World of Warcraft Closed Beta Ending
JD-1027 writes "Blizzard is ending it's closed beta test of World of Warcraft Friday at 3pm PDT. Somewhat of an abrupt announcement, welcome by most, that means the release of the game is inching closer." In all likelihood this indicates the imminent arrival of the Open Beta Test.
I played it for a few hours and it just seemed like Diablo3, and was pretty boring in my opinion.
Others might find it fun, but I couldn't get into it.. no matter how hard I WANTED to.
I think you are right in the idea that EQ2's early launch will try to grab the market that isn't willing to split its money over two games.
IMO, the two games are different enough to attract two different crowds. It's a love/hate relationship between WoW and EQ2. Those who love WoW think EQ2 sucks and vice versa. It's a good thing for Blizzard to release an open beta now so that those who feel unfulfilled by WoW can make their decision before EQ2 comes out. The only game that loses out here is Guild Wars, which I feel can't compete with a free WoW open beta (If indeed Blizzard open beta launches this weekend).
