Water Cooling With A Car Radiator
sH4RD writes "Why go out and buy a water cooling system when you can do it with an old car radiator? That's exactly what One of The Twelve figured when he used the radiator from his brother's 1979 Toyota Corolla to cool his system. His Athlon64 3000+ can hit 2.5GHz smoothly now. Check out the original forum post complete with benchmarks."
Does it run Gentoo?
Can someone tell me whether using 64bit on the desktop is viable yet? My feeling has been that it's useless as there are currently no real applications that support it. Sure, your system will handle 64bit, but most software will not have the capability to use the full power of the machine, right? For instance, if I'm playing a videogame - is the videogame just going to perform at the 32bit level? Sure, it would be faster becuase the rest of the OS based stuff will be running in the 64bit "mode", but that won't, overall, directly affect the performance of the game... right?
I'm familiar with 64bit in the server world, but there are OSes and applications specifically intended ot take advantage of all that bandwidth and power. If I byu AMD64 for the desktop, am I going to notice any difference between that and the latest high-end 32bit AMD? And if so, is it a significant enough difference that it's worth spending $700 or $800 for the 64bit AMD versus $150 or $180 for the latest standard 32bit AMD?
One is made in the US the other in Japan u work it out.

From my experience with Toyota, I'll go with the Japanese radiator.
