Matrix Online Voice Talent Locked In
Gamespot has a piece discussing the signing of the original Matrix cast members for voice roles in the MMOG. Actors returning to their trilogy roles include Lawrence Fishburne, Monica Bellucci, Mary Alice, Lambert Wilson, Harold Perrineau Jr., Harry Lennix, Nona Gaye, Collin Chou, and Tanveer Atwal.
I am (or at least recently was) a Matrix freak. I think Matrix 1 is the coolest movie ever made, and I even liked 2 and 3.
I am also a MMORPG addict... having paid for many combined years of a few MMORPGs.
But, I have absolutely zero interest in this game. And, if I'm not the absolute prime target demographic for this game, I have no idea who is. And, it really makes me worry for this game's future--as I have no intention of ever playing it. I plan to be fully addicted to WoW by the time this comes out.
Anyone holding their breath for this game? And, do voice actors make a damn difference?

You know, I can't think of any other character someone would want to play besides Neo. I mean, really: how about security guard who gets shot to pieces number 23? Or Tryke: Dozer and Tank's dwarf amputee cousin? I'd love to be Agent Smith, but I don't think killing that drippy little wanna-be messiah would be too satisfying after the first two or three thousand times.

It very much depends on how well the developers do in getting it right. Just because the Matrix universe opens itself to possibilities, it doesn't mean that those possibilities will be realised in this game. Personally, I really hope they get it right.
Having said that. I haven't played any of the betas and I'll probably wait a while before I buy the game. I'd like to see how the launch goes, and what the general feeling is.
And of course, a MMO generally takes a lot of time to get anywhere. Unfortunately, I don't have as much of that particular commodity to burn anymore.
