    Oh man! I just finished downloading Fedora Core 2 and installed it on all of my boxen. Don't tell me that I have to upgrade again!

    Oh well, at least it's better than Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 With 60 Hotfixes Installed. Linux is so much stabler and securer.

    Does it finally have support for play mp3s? It's pretty lame to have to search for some unsupported apt repo for media players that support mp3 and other basic standards.

    There isn't shit available, and we all know it, of course we treat it like a dirty secret and mod anyone down as troll who points this out.

    Every distro screenshot has at least one or two of an xterm running top or nano or an ls -al to show all the pretty directory colors (and highlight the lack of a really good file manager for the desktop)

    PS. If it takes you 6 months to get used to a linux distro, you have a learning disability and should see a specialist.

    short answer: it's gigantic. Fedora is 3 CDs full of useless crap incl. multiple window managers (for the nit who just can't pick) and twelve notepad clones and fiddly little nerd tools galore. It's basically for people who like to fiddle with shit instead of getting things done already. Ubuntu is cleaner than the disparate components of Fedora Core 3. Of course they both suck at multimedia playback/creation/etc (my pet peeve, would'ja believe!) but Ubuntu is easier to fix, at least as far as playing movies goes. Updates are rather less painful too.

    Ubuntu is IME a billion times less likely to fail catastrophically and panic your kernel. I see that as one of its better points.
    Oh and check out the X server options too.
