Will Wind Power Change Earth's Climate?

lommer writes "The Globe and Mail is currently running an article on a recent wind power study. A group of Canadian and American scientists has modelled the effects of introducing massive amounts of wind farms into North America and have come up with surprising results. While still having only 1/5th the impact of fossil fuels, wind power will still adjust the earth's climate with the equatorial regions warmed while the arctic grows colder. Could this be a boon for the nuclear lobby, or is this just further evidence for a diversified power-generating system?"

    I just heard some sad news on CNN - Palestinian President Yasser was pronounced dead in his French hospital early this morning local time. There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him - even if you didn't support his work, there's no denying his contributions to Arab life. Truly a Palestinian icon.

      His murderous hatred of Jews was rivalled only by that of the great hitler. Truly a lefty douchebag democrat icon.

      Speaking not as a Jew but as someone married to a Jewess, oy gevalt you're dumb. Many of those lefty douchebag democrats you speak of are Jews, and a good 70-80% of Jews voted for Kerry. For his part Arafat was not much more than a local corrupt politician. It seems a little presumptuous to escalate Arafat to the realm of antiChrists. After all it's not like anything is going to get better over there now that he's dead.

      Getting back on topic, does anyone know how the layout of cities affects the wind once all the houses have been razed by Israeli tanks?

    No, I think the affect of the wind farms gets added to the account of the blocky buildings, the blocky buildings being the root cause of the existence of the wind farms.

    Two sides of the same coin.

    Of course, it's the people inside of them that are the root cause of the blocky buildings. Aha! Now we're getting somewhere. Isn't reductionism fun?

    You can only put so many rats in the same cage before things start going all to hell, especially if the rats keep using more and more energy per rattus.

    Oh well, there's always Soylent Green.
