Open Source Expertise in Short Supply
whydoyouask writes "Information week has an article on the shortage of expertise for enterprise open source projects and it's ramifications for both enterprises and salaries
for those possessed of these skill. While it is suspicious in it's timing and references to Ballmer's recent email it does point out some definite considerations that companies planning open source projects better account for. Those looking for marketable job skills might also take note."
I just heard some sad news on CNN - Palestinian President Yasser Arafat was pronounced dead in a French military hospital early this morning local time. There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him - even if you didn't support his work, there's no denying his contributions to the Arab world. Truly a Palestinian icon.
I have just now written a version of readline() that:
,this means that readline()
(1) conforms to the standard GNU readline() API
(2) in fact actually uses the standard GNU readline() function
(3) does *NOT* poison your code with the GPL
Because we now have the existence proof that there somewhere exists a
non-infective version of the library API
is now safe for anyone to link against without any viral contamination.
Enjoy!
Of even greater interest is that my small proof-of-concept example is
not specific to readline(). All GPL'd library code can be effectively
purged of the virus.
Freedline can be obtained Here
Rejoice!
That's two huge blows for peace in the Middle East in as many weeks: the election of W, and the death of Arafat.

Normally I don't nitpick about spelling and grammar, but this is bad. The story author sounds like he or she is from India or something. Kind of makes me wonder if this is that much more FUD.
bash: rtfm: command not found
What's happended to this story? We's got goatse, GNAA, and a dozen trolls descending on slashdot at once!
How'd you wangle the work visa to Korea though? You need a 4-year degree for one of those...get one online or something? (unless you're a lucky country that gets working holiday visas of course)
Shutting down free speech with violence isn't fighting fascism. It IS fascism!
