Lycos Anti-Spam Site Compromised [Updated]
An anonymous reader writes "Lycos, shortly after producing a screen saver to fight spammers using a DoS-style attack appears to have been hacked. Attempting to download the screen saver from lycos results in this message 'Yes, attacking spammers is wrong, you know this, you shouldn't be doing it. Your ip address and request have been logged and will be reported to your ISP for further action.' Or maybe it's just a joke -- can you ever tell?" Update: 12/01 15:07 GMT by T : According to Lycos, the defacement reports were actually just a hoax.

Makes me laff how some of you like to generalise this down to a binary action. If we introduce a law it'll be unfair. If we don't introduce a law these spammers\pr0n kings will make the Internet their own and force us to look at whatever they choose to publish. But then, how can we have one law if the world is divided so?
Adults can dismiss content but when a kid does a homework exercise search on google and find Pr0n sites appearing, something isn't right. Sod freedom to do what you want, it should read "freedom to do what you want as long as it's sensible and doesn't affect the majority" when it comes to Pron and Spam.
It's just the same with the pr0n, "oh no we cannot stop the paedophiles as the law might affect innocents" just a joke isn't it. You'll find most of the opposition to this are actually the faggots that collect this filth or distribute it.
Try telling a parent "sorry we didn't crack down when we could off on those filthy ponces, so install shed loads of software and pay for it to stop your children seeing this stuff".

Stop bleating on about rights, we need to sort out the internet by removing 1) sales and marketing (yes the internet was free with no advertising once and it was growing so adverts and internet are not synonymous 2) faggot kiddie fiddlers who need to be chemically castrated and bitch-slapped hard until their in the background once again and 3) Pr0n which seems to be advertised on most websites nowadays needs to be towed back a bit, fair to have it but you should have to search for it not have it come to you.
The Internet isn't what I hoped for when I was gophering around it all those years back. Makes me feel sick to see the amount of crap that's tolerated on the net nowadays because some hippy bunch of Spam lovers think control is a bad thing.
What is bad is senators, corporations playing on your lack of control, if we don't do something about it then someone else will, but the consequences are huge and we'll pay for their intervention in the long ring.
We need someone that'll ignore both camps, the consumer and the abuser and just get busy taking down these faggots and spammer\scammers.
Lycos are doing it for free, anyone does this gets my vote and I'll join them just to give these clock-pluckers some of their own medicine.
