IBM Puts PC Business Up for Sale

valdean writes "When I was growing up (in the 80s), there were two kinds of computers that my friends (or, more specifically, our parents) had at home: Apple and the IBM-Compatible. IBM defined the PC at that time, and deserves a large share of credit for taking the PC out of the hobby shop and into the mainstream. Now it looks like IBM is getting out of the PC business altogether. CBS Marketwatch has another report."

In all seriousness their desktops don't sell, but their chip technology is still a booming buisness. They didn't move with the PC market and selling out is probably for the best. Might help my IBM stock in the long run too.

I personally have boycotted all purchaes of Chinese-made goods. I see no other way to stop the Yellow Peril juggernaut except to extend diplomatic recognition to Taiwan ... which we should never have dropped ... but we can't do this because the Rds will stop buying Treasury paper, and the dollar will collapse, but then the yuan would, too ... and the Reds have a new nuclear ballistic sub ... gee, this is all so complicated.

Can't we go back to 3270 green screens and SNA? It would solve the world's monetary crisis and allow a safe migration of Taiwan back to being a sovereign nation, and boost property values in Durham NC
