Is RSS Doomed by Popularity?

Ketchup_blade writes "As RSS is becoming more known to the mainstream users and press, the bandwidth issue reported by many sites (Eweek, CNet, InternetNews) related to feeds is becoming a reality. Stats from sites like Boing Boing are showing a real concern regarding feeds bandwidth usage. Possible solutions to this problem are emerging slowly, like RSScache (feed caching proxy) and KnowNow (even-driven syndication). RSScache seems to offer a realistic solution to the problem, but can this be enough to help RSS as it reaches an even bigger user base in the upcoming year?"

Slashdot might be news for nerds, but it certainly is not news that matters.

The stories posted are relevant to practically noone. If they are, they're usually stories stolen from large news sites that are posted on small site that add ridiculous skew to the stories.

When loading slashdot in the browser it takes forever to have the DNS address resolved, and no dorks it isn't a technical problem on my end. This is what happens when you go with the cheapest quality internet service companies.

Finally, the daily thought (or whatever it's called) near the bottom of the webpage are never witty. Wasting time to trying to figure out the joke for these often obscure thoughts never pays off, as they are so retarded that the resulting laughs aren't worth the two seconds of brain CPU time invested to get them.

    In conclusion, Slashdot.org clearly sucks.
