Democrat Takes 10-Vote Lead in WA Governor Race
Two major developments in the apparently neverending Washington state governor's race happened on Wednesday. As the second recount wound down, with 38 of 39 counties reporting -- all but the heavily Democratic-leaning King County -- Republican Dino Rossi extended his lead from 42 votes to 49. Then, the state Supreme Court ruled that its December 14 decision which disallowed including new ballots in the hand recount did not preclude county canvassing boards from including new ballots, which paves the way for 735 previously rejected ballots in King County to be processed. Then, King County announced that its hand recount (not including the 735) swung toward Democrat Christine Gregoire by 59 votes, giving her a 10-vote lead statewide (1,373,051 to 1,373,041). More court challenges are likely to follow.
1. Don't know why you where modder "flamebait". Pretty right on comment.
2. Nope they can't! But we all know Republicans are knee-jerk.

There are far, far more corrupt Republicans than Democrats. I have been researching this for serveral months now. For the love of country, do similar research. It's a big part of the reason of why many like me are no longer Republican.
There are more Democrats in the US than Republicans, and in spite of media (the media is *not* liberal, it's a conservative (corporate) system which employs liberals *and* conservatives who have to support that system to stay in the game) prognostication to the contrary, more Americans are Liberal/Progressive than are Conservative/Reactionary.
The last three elections show concerted effort on the part of the Republicans to suppress as much of the vote as possible. It's sickening. I can understand trying to win, but let democracy work. Educate the people, let them vote, and make certain their vote is counted!
*While* they were making those claims, in the same interviews, they said they'd go to court if Gregiore won any recount.
The local media in Seattle was a little demure in their reporting of this. After all, what really is there to say? The GOP is the party of hypocrisy.
What's really funny, is the grass roots the Republicans try to put on things. There they are in the state capital with professionally printed signs that say "Don't Change The Rules" while all the Democrats have homemade signs to the general effect of "count every vote." The delightful irony comes in that the state constitution and previous decisions on such matter specifically allow for mistakes to be corrected during a recount.
But the scientist in me sort of admires the pro entropy position of the GOP.
