James Bond Peelable Automobile Paint

Anonymous Coward writes "Akzo Nobel has developed a unique temporary paint system which can peeled off after use. Known as Maskin, the product can be applied to any non-porous surface, such as a vehicle body or windows, without risk of damage to the original finish. Maskin (a combination of the words mask and skin) is available in eight basic colors, plus one transparent film, and can be mixed to create a wide spectrum of shades. When no longer required, the film can be peeled and disposed of using standard paint waste removal methods."

I can imagine some serious military applications. The Chinese paint their tanks with the colors and designations of NATO and, then, proceed to launch an invasion of the Ukraine. Here, I am looking 10 years into the future when Ukraine has joined NATO.

The Chinese sweep through the Ukraine, raping and killing children in much the same fashion that the Chinese conduct themselves today in Tibet. The invasion of Ukraine is quick because the Ukrainians are fooled into thinking that the weapons are NATO.

Then, once the invasion of the country is complete, the Chinese peel off the NATO colors and paint their equipment blood red, restoring them to their original fascist colors.

Good theory, except for the 1500 miles of other peoples land between China and Ukraine.

And any military that relies solely on a paintjob for identification is toast anyway. Perhaps you've forgotten about radios, IFF, secure codes, and the like.
