Mandrakelinux Releases New Corporate Line

joestar writes "Mandrakelinux' line of products has just been updated with two new products which are dedicated to the corporate world: Mandrakelinux Corporate Server and Mandrakelinux Corporate Desktop for x86 and x86-64 architectures. According to Mandrakesoft, these products focus on reliability and security, and will be maintained for five years. In my opinion, this release really says much about new Mandrakesoft's strategy and business. Press release here."

I've been forced to work with Mandrake at work, creating custom systems for various purposes. I think they only sell because they have the image to convert management's impression of what Linux can do. However I, after having used Linux for nearly 10 years (Slackware, then RedHat, now Debian - mmm... debian!), get stuck trying to backtrack how it is that Mandrake decided they should write their custom "We're sure you're too stupid to understand, let us do this" scripts. A tip for management: if you want to use Linux, and have experienced staff, let them select your distribution. Just because you feel you're dealing with a more legitimate group does not mean the core of the system is somehow more reliable or stable. Belonging to the support club does not mean better support.

And RPMs continue to rot my brain...
