2005 GameTrailers Awards

Brad writes "The 2005 GameTrailers Awards were announced yesterday. The GameTrailers Awards are the first and only awards show to honor excellence in Video Game Media. Thousands of game trailers, cinematics and gameplay movies are released each year, but this is the first time that they will be honored in an awards show format. The GameTrailers Awards will be broadcast in two parts: The Nominees show, which began broadcast on January 5th; and the Winners Show, which will be broadcast on January 19th."

A'la "oscar" or "emmy"? If not, I would like to suggest "Chu Chu" as we all know Chu Chu Rocket is the high water mark all game trailers/ads should aspire to.

The winner should be the game leader-movie that is so compelling that you don't find yourself hitting keyboard or controller buttons within seconds to move past it to the actual game. A rare beast.

Don't blame Durga. I voted for Centauri.

A game trailer that looks better than the actual game !?

      No..... fucking..... way....

Do you work for Spike TV?

What a joke, awards for video game movies. Never miss a chance to pat yourself on the back I guess. I vote for the Aspyr load up screen because that lady whispering "Aspyr" sounds hot. Wait, there are movies in video games?

    Yeah. Good ol' cinematics.

I really enjoy the cinematics portion of most games. The graphics are almost always better than that found in the actual game and there's a real attempt to try and convey some important thematic elements of the game in the animated cequences.

Apart from that, they're just really fun to watch.

G4 used to have this show called "cinematech" that was composed of just cinematics or gameplay excerpts. I can't say that I liked most of the gameplay shots, but the cinematics were pretty cool ... even for games that I'd never play.

I think that the UT2K4 cinematics were great. I liked Warhammer, too. I still play both of those, too.

try RTFA erm... what article? "You need to upgrade your Flash Player! Already have Flash Player? Click here if you have Flash Player 6 installed." does not count as an article. Nor does the 35MB trailer (eh... I downloaded a newer flash to watch a Quicktime or WMV file?). It'd be nice if there was just a list. Hmmm... maybe I don't want to WTFT?
