64-bit Windows XP Tested And Reviewed

sebFlyte writes "64-bit Windows is nearly here, despite Microsoft quietly dropping support (and plans for it) for the Itanium on XP ... Windows XP for x64 RC1 has been tested, seemingly fairly thoroughly, and actually looks like a stable OS."

But a spelling flame will gain you +insightful karma it seems. Can I get a mod up for pointing out the lack of credibility xutopia gets from starting a sentence with a lower case letter? Thanks.

I don't think that is the point. I think he is pointing out that spelling "Windows" as "Windose" does not make you more credible in a Linux crowd.

Well of course it doesn't. It makes you look like someone who can't spell. The question is whether pointing that out is +5 insightful. You have to be pretty determined to find some insult buried in there. What is it, Windows gives you a dose of the win? It doesn't even make any sense. Slashdot submitter can't spell. Film at 11.

Try switching to Linux, it seems to have 64 bit support for a great deal of hardware built right into the system. Just a couple of graphics cards really that the closed-source drivers can't be fixed without the profit-oriented manufacturers either doing it themselves or giving the necessary docs to the user-oriented Linux developers.

Okay I get "M$", "Winblows" and "Windoze", even though I think it makes the writer look stupid, but how the hell is "Windose" supposed to be denigrating?

Is a result of 's' being next to 'z' on my keyboard, and me not proofing on weekends out of principle. Secondly, credibility? Meh. I spell it that way mainly because it makes me smile, and it's my own pathetic way of soothing the pain from the the chafe-marks i have from using XP all week and only being able to use OSX at home.
