Build an Open Source Network Sniffer
An anonymous reader writes "This article reviews common issues of wireless security, and shows how to use open source software to suss out wireless networks, get information about them, and start recognizing common security problems. You will learn how build a lightweight wireless sniffer that runs on open source software and see how simple it is to interact with wireless networks."
Where can I find a cheap (at least $20, possibly with rebates involved) wireless card that has RFMON-capable drivers in Linux?
Why is it so hard to find a card that Kismet can use for lightweight wireless sniffing? (None of the new cheap cards are prisms anymore - they must've caught on.)
do you work for microsoft? Nah even that's too good for you
you probably work at the Box Factory.
I wonder which freeway it was. I drived Montreal down to Dover DE, crossing Newark NY and Albany NY and I left kismet open and I never picked a signal. Maybe I was driving too fast. ;-)

That's right, I'm a space man from the future and I have come here to tell you some important WiFi facts.
In our world of the future, 5 years away from your own, the future genious of id fame Brian Hook has made it known that wireless stuff can be a security problem if your settings are too low.
