Gnome 2.10 Sneak Peek

spectre_be writes "Davyd Madeley wrote a Sneak Peek at Gnome 2.10, scheduled for release on the March 9, 2005. Looks like the new release-policy is starting to pay of, as several existing utilities get enhancements and a couple of new ones are added. Also (finally) a mozilla-stylee type-ahead find has been implemented in Gnome's Open/Save dialog. Together with OpenOffice.org 2.0's scheduled release and Novell's Mono coming up to speed, will 2005 prove to be the year of Gnome?" Update: 01/18 01:40 GMT by T : Oops - the "2-point" got chopped off in the headline; still a while until GNOME 10.

Why should I futz with Linux when I can go down the Apple store and buy a Unix box that works right out of the box?

Isn't the BSD Unix of OS/X superior to Linux?

Isn't the model of closed drivers and hardware superior to the mess of drivers and hardware on the "standard" PCs that Linux tries to support?

In a world dominated by Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, isn't it more important to buy a machine that can run Microsoft software than take my chances with Linux?

Linux has had it's chance. Back in 1995. It failed and continues to struggle at the number 3 postition. Isn't it more important to go with a strong, compatible number 2?

Isn't it time to just buy a mac ?? :-)
