American Airlines Information Gathering
matt-fu writes "Cory Doctorow posted a story on boingboing.net this morning describing a recent hassle while flying American Airlines. It seems that since he was traveling from the UK to the US with a Canadian passport, he was actually asked to give out the names and addresses of everyone he would be staying with in the US! He has written an open letter to AA in response. Has anyone else had something like this happen to them?"
please do, it would make the US a better place.
Your hair look like poop, Bob! - Wanker.
As my mother once said, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. That was approximately 48 hours before she called me up begging for computer help. ;-)
Don't worry so much.
You are probably safer from being snatched when you are in the US than when you are outside the borders. Would you rather take your chances with local police officers here in the US, or with the military/CIA in your country?
It is also not as bad here as you describe. We certainly have changed, and lost many freedoms, but the average person isn't disappearing, well, not yet at least.
Judging by how many irate people talk about critical political subjects both online and offline, 49% of the population should be in Alaskan gulags for re-education if it were really that bad.
It's troubling and scary, but not grim yet. You might as well make use of the exchange rate and visit here while you can.
