Offline Everquest 2 Character Creator
Worthplaying has a note that Ubisoft (SOE's EU distributor) and SOE have made available an offline character creator on the UK EQ2 site. It's somewhat large, but the EQ2 character creation process is somewhat in-depth. Should make for a fun toy.
Wouldn't it be easier just to take all of the physical customization crap out and release a utility concerning the parts of the character that are actually important? I bet you could fit that into just a few MBs without even trying.

I don't know when, I don't know how, but I am sure that people will find some creative way to generate pictures of naked women that way...

This program has been available for months and in fact is pretty useless. It gives you a real look at what the characters look like with no animations. If you pre-ordered EQ 2 before the American release you got it for free or just pick it up off a torrent site.
It really only takes just a few minutes to make a character so the idea of saving time before purchasing retail wasn't really a good excuse. In fact, any characters I created before hand I didn't even use.
It's nice that it's offically given away now and people don't have to feel like thieves for downloading it elsewhere.
Blizzard already took this idea and applied it to their whole game...WOW an "offline" MMORPG.... now if only we could play it while it was offline..... these server downtimes are driving me nuts
Like someone said above. This has been out for a long time.
I pre-orderd at my local GameStop and recieved my Pre-Order Package that included 2 discs that let me design my character long before EQ2 was released.
I think end of last July I seen this on suprnova *mourn* and being given out at certain stores as a pre order incentive. It does actually give you a good preview of the char models of EQ2 but doesn't really let you appreciate that EQ2 is quite a resource hog sadly.
I posted my frivolous prediction that people will find a way to generate naked women, and an hour later you came (no pun intended) with a solution to do just that. Now, if lust is not the main force behind innovation, then I seriously don't know what is. This is consistent with my hypothesis that there would be no civilisation without sins, especially the deadly ones.
Sincerely,

Tried installing this... Said it was missing mss32.dll, found the dll on google and downloaded it, then it was unable to find something in ddraw.dll, so I downloaded ddraw.dll, then it said it couldn't find something in kernel32.dll, and when I downloaded that and put it in the directory, it didn't fix the error.
Any ideas?
On a different note, how versatile is the tool? Is it like Heromachine or City of Heroes, or is it just a small step up from the horrible character creator for EQ? I ask because I'm wondering about using this to make pictures of characters for D&D.
Sorry, my bad. I'm a moron.
Didn't have Direct X 9 installed. You always sorta take Direct X for granted, seems like everything installs it that needs it... But I got a new computer recently and I guess City of Heroes, the only game I've played of late, doesn't need it.
Has City of Heroes released something like this? I spent more time making characters then I did actually beta-testing it...
