Review of Microsoft's Anti-Spyware Tools

happyslayer writes "Matthew Fordahl has written a review of Microsoft's anti-spyware tool and has declared it, in a word, 'ineffective.' Though the methodology isn't carried out completely (he uses another anti-virus program after trying MS's tool, but doesn't do the same with the anti-spyware tool), it's a fairly good anecdote on the MS product's usefulness."

if you hadn't noticed... which apparently you haven't, they have started thinking hard about security (SP2). You're probably also one of the people just bitching and moaning about how long it is till longhorn is released... and how they keep pulling features.

News flash, they did a complete security revamp with SP2, and a damn fine job at that. Of course all they're going to do RIGHT NOW is apply "band-aids" wtf else are they going to do? They're making a whole new O/S that they want to get out the door this decade, so they're going to band-aid XP and save the "security overhaul" for longhorn.

Don't be such a blatant M$ hater, it completely discredits your arguments. And really, at least they're making an effort, it's more than they've done in the past. And it shows they ARE taking security seriously now. You should be championing them for finally getting a clue. Nobody said you had to like the company as a whole, but you could at least admit when they're doing good things instead of ALWAYS finding something wrong.

RTFA, it's full of crap. I've used the spyware beta and it works great, better than Spybot for me.
