MMOG Machinima

An Anonymous Reader wrote in to tell us about a Massively Multiplayer Machinima series entitled A Galaxy Far Away, made in Star Wars Galaxies. MMOGs are increasingly seeing use in Machinima productions and music videos, in works such as SWG's Fallen, WoW's Shutup and Dance, Dark Age of Camelot's Remember, and City of Heroes' Justice.

First off, RvB stopped being funny after episode 3, season 1.

Now it's just a bunch of clowns playing Halo, which I have on my couch at any given time. I don't even have to cough up money to sponser the clowns on my couch.

Secondly, machinima was invented long before Halo, the Xbox, or Roosterteeth. People were making better movies with Quake 1 many moons ago.

And from FFXI, there was that machinima of someone killing all the people in Valkrum Dunes. Except you can't PVP in FFXI (Conquest doesn't count), so they had to train this level 50 mob onto the players instead.

Funny as all hell. Only worthwhile thing ever to come out of that game.

Unfortunately it appears that it's been removed from the 'net, I can't find it anywhere. :(

Not only is it from Battlefront which is in no way a MMOG, but it's.. it's not very good. It's.. Just really bad. I started watching, not even expecting something on the level of RvB.. thank god for that, because the comedy is more along the lines of Garfield: The movie.

Do you know a lot about machinima, or are you interested enough to research its history, culture, present state, and future directions?

Would you like to introduce other curious geeks to machinima?

Are you unafraid of, or capable of drinking enough to be unafraid of, getting up in front of 20-50 of your peers to give a presentation?

You should come present at Notacon! It's a conference about technology, community, art, culture, hacking, music, and you. The call for papers is currently open. What would you like to talk about?
