State of the Union

Shouldn't this be filed under 'funny'?
Sorry, but I became much less interested in what Bush had to say after he wrapped up his social security segment. Two lines, in particular: ...we must pursue change with diligence, courage, and honesty
...our children's future is more important than partisan politics!
Translation: If you oppose SS reform, you are weak, a coward, and a liar.
Translation: If you oppose SS reform, you're playing politics, nothing more.
That was more than enough for me.
If that's your strongest argument, you aren't going to convince anyone who doesn't already agree with you.
I'm not saying you are wrong, just your argument isn't worth crap and I'm wondering how it got modded insightful. Someone must have confused it with inciteful.

I watched for about 40 minutes. The entire duration he spoke like he was the president of Iraq. What a goddamned asshole.
This is what Bush has and the left wishes they had. Bush sees a brighter tomorrow and a way to get there. The left? All they do is complain about Bush.
I see a country held in the grip of one of the worst tyrants one can imagine. The only difference between Hussein and Stalin is one of scale. That regime was decisively smashed in a matter of days.
Then came "winning the peace". In the face of terrorists, daily car-bombings, brutal murderings, millions and millions of Iraqis woke up and openly defied the terrorists and voted for their own future. Do you know the significance of the blue index finger? That's the voters of Iraq challenging the terrorists, "I voted! Come, kill me! You said you would behead me! Where are you, you cowards!"
A people went from being peons to free citizens in a matter of years. Another key point: The immediate security of the polls was handled by Iraqis, not Americans. Americans were in the back, ready to assist if things got out of hand. The only Americans around the polling places were the reporters. Guess what? The Iraqis handled it on their own. The soldiers didn't run this time!
This formula works, it will always work. It will work in Iran, it will work in Syria, it will work in North Korea. This is the only plan that works. All of the great American leaders knew this! Go read up on what MacArthur, Patton, Eisenhower, and other generals thought of this plan. Go see what presidents Kennedy, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and FDR thought! They are in agreement. If there is a fringe wacko element, it is on the left. The American people support Bush because he represents their core values and dreams, since 1776 to today.
Go ahead and keep whining, you leftists. Go ahead and keep wishing for American failure, for our economy to collapse, for Wall Street to burn. It won't happen as long as we have competent, visionary leaders in the White House.
And here's something to set you off: Condi in '08. Romney in '16.

You don't seriously think your employer doesn't take that into account when deciding wage issues, do you? That additional social security would either be used to pay you more, or pay someone else more. The money does not magically appear.
Hmm, I'm an employer. I suddenly no longer have to pay my share of FICA tax. I have the choice of returning that money to my worker's paycheck, or keeping it myself. In addition, I'm the standard capitalistic heartless bastard who believes that Greed is Good and Profit is King. Which do you think I'm going to do? Where do you think that money will be going?

Or what if we didn't rely on the government to take care of our retirement at all? What if we took the responsablity to save money all by our selves?
Screw the people that don't have any sense to save money for retirement. That just means they don't get a retirement!
If I don't don't make enough money to buy a loaf a bread now, why is the government taking my money to "save" for retirement later? Shouldn't I be able to buy food so I don't starve to death or freeze to death?
And what is this nonsense about "the weath gap"? The weath gap provides motovation for me to get off my ass and make some money for myself or for my children.
Survival of the fittest. That's what I say.
