Microsoft to Buy Anti-Virus Software Firm
thejuggler writes "Excite News is reporting that Microsoft is planning to buy Sybari Software Inc., which makes programs designed to protect business computer networks from viruses, worms and other threats. This is Microsoft's second purchase of an anti-virus company. The article states that Microsoft is thinking about charging for their anti-virus and anti-spyware software."
Someone still reads news on sites like Excite? I thought everyone used Google or Yahoo news these days.
To be honest I find it bigger news that Excite is still in business than "Microsoft buys company X"! Microsoft has more money than God, but the teat that Excite suckles from surely dried up a long time ago...

The virus companies have their definitions updated before they release the viruses in the wild. ClamAV depends on people getting infected, and then sending in a sample, so its much slower to be updated, and you will have viruses get through as a result.
