French Court Orders Google to Stop Competing Ad Displays

charleste writes "NPR is reporting that a French court has ordered Google to stop displaying ads when users search for competitors (e.g. if you search for Louis Vuitton, no more ads for Dior). If this holds up, wouldn't this affect most business models for free web tools?" CNET also has details , and information about previous cases.

    The parent post is horrendous. Obviously you have no concept of what it means to live in the world as a good citizen. Respecting the _differences_ of the _citizens_ of the world is something lost on you for sure! We must protects the rights of _everyone_, not just those who have the power. We must not tread on others with an overepowered opinion, or displays of speech so offesnsive that we shut down good discourse! Culture is vital for the worlds survival and the French contribute much in that regard. To attack and insult them, for this insightful and respectful legal ruling, is just disgusting. Perhaps it is you who lives in the "Dark Ages"! We need world governence to protect the worlds citizens from opions such as yours. Ignorance is truly the most detructive force! Hopefully, the UN will come to be the body of governence and we can finally have world wide taxes to support the poor and oppressed, to end ignorance and racism, to stop hunger, and to educate everyone into a state of equality. We must elavate ourselves, eachother, beyone name calling and insults. Hopefully, soon, the UN will be properly empowered, and the nations of the world united into a single governmental power that can address all these problems.

    This has nothing at all to do with the topic and I am not suprised at all that google wants to avoid
    A) Pissing off Advertisers
    B) getting involved in a slander suit.
