Apple Updates iPod
TheRaven64 writes "Apple seems to have quietly updated the iPod Photo and iPod Mini lines. The Mini now comes in 4GB and 6GB flavours, priced at $199 and $249 respectively. The iPod Photo now comes in a 30GB flavour for $349 - only $50 more than the 20GB iPod with a mono screen and shorter battery life."

Anyone have any good options to an iPod? I am not a fan of iTunes for some reason, and was wondering if there was anything I could get besides an iPod, CHEAPER, that would make me just as happy.
I don't care what it looks like, unless it is just ugly as hell.
Creative got on the ball with their iPod mini competitor. The thing comes with 2 battery packs right off the bat. The word is definitely getting out about the iPod's battery failure rates, and the expense of replacing it. I'll never be a purchaser until they fix this stuff.
yeah, well considering the 60gb photo used to be 599 and now it's 449, so is it really a big deal that they took away the dock (which I don't think most people even know what to do with)?

Interesting that a Moderator slaps a "Troll" merely because I make what I believe are factual statements. Since when is stating a fact "Trolling"? I challenge this moderator to show that what I said was untrue. And if he/she casn't prove that they should remove the "Troll" label on my post. I admire Apple, but the latest iPods, announced today, show no step fwd in innovation. I have recently bought a Rio Carbon, which after rebate was $185.00 has a 5 gig DH, superb styling and low weight and very good sound. But nobody starts a slashdot thread in favor or Rio;)

The quieter they are about something, the more free advertising they seem to get from places like this.
It's just a music player with more space. There's absolutely nothing revolutionary about it, and the evolutionary aspect is expected.
