Gnome 2.10 Released

Mad_Rain writes "The new version of Gnome (you know, the desktop of many Linux users?) has just been released. You can even try it out with a LiveCD (bittorrent link). There is a video player and CD-ripping utility included, and the all-important new splash screen!"

What a pathetic KDE troll. I bet you haven't even tried Gnome, but you still like to bash it out of ignorance.

    How typical.

KDE rules, Gnome sucks donkey balls, this is not newsworthy cuz Gnome cant hold a flame to KDE because it is so clearly the superior desktop environment, there's just no competition, so why don't you fools stop wasting your time with this Gnome nonsense, it's all just a big waste of time, effort and resources.

Okay, those who actually read all that, give yourselves a pat on the back for more wasted productivity, much like the developers of the Gnome project waste their productivity every day!

A CD ripper AND a video player?! What will they do for an encore? Shouldn't they leave something to include in later versions? In all seriousness, one of the main complaints I hear about KDE is that it includes all these bells and whistles, thus causing bloat. If Gnome continues on the same trend, there will be even less differentiatingthe two.

that include most of the gnome apps
how they've downgraded Evolution (once my fave app) - that was criminal (the stuff is still horribly unstable)

how they messed up a previously enjoyable and very functional desktop (talk about stay-on-top buttons, etc) is beyond belief.

don't these complaints haunt the developers?
is it the user-base or just their own selves they've been developing for?
I just wonder how many more fans have Gnome lost since.

    My GHOD!

It only took them till two thousand and FIVE to get auto-mount working in Nautalus?!?!?

For fscks sake! That should have worked at 1.0!!!!

It's amazing how much hell Linux and especially Gnome users will put up with for years and YEARS after every other OS has the feature implemented seamlessly.

And seriously, Gnomes panel will NEVER be stable. It works for at best two weeks before blowing up and forcing you to run screaming to KDE.

Gnome is CRAP. It should just die and let Linux users and developers have at least a chance at a standard UI.
