Planet Gentoo Announced

An anonymous reader submits "Gentoo has announced the launch of Planet Gentoo, a weblog aggregator similar in style to Planet Gnome and Planet Debian. There are some interesting reads on what's going on, what might be going on in the future, and the occasional entertaining troll to liven things up. Worth a read to see what's being cooked up by one of the more innovative distributions, even if you're not a Gentoo user yourself."

One can only guess that its referring to the post the guy makes about PHP being only a "toy language" because it came from humble roots.. He's obviously grossly incorrect and almost certainly is trying to incite others to challenge his opinion.

And what exactly constitutes a "toy language"? He seems to be implying that PHP is only meant for use as web counters on people's personal home pages. Considering its widespread deployment and even incorporation by one of the web's biggest portals (Yahoo), I feel PHP is justified as a bonafide programming language. If a language gets the job done, use it. Just because it is easy to use/learn shouldn't automatically make it a "toy language", in fact, its quite childish to come to such conclusions. He makes no clear argument for justifing his statement, thus it would seem to be that he's just trying to incite others to retaliate. Convenient, because he is in a position to put himself up on a pedestal and proclaim that [insert language of his choice] is the only TRUE web programming language.
