The only problem putting the nail into the coffin is that there are still rural areas that aren't adequately internet serviced a real paradox for a company like AT&T.

Please flame me for this; Why must something be "released" for "enterprise" use? I mean come on guys if we let the marketers and reporters say what is and isn't "enterprise" ready we will end up with the same damn nightmare that is microsoft windows, except in 2 versions an "enterprise(i.e. professional)" version and the home(i.e. easy target) version. Let the "enterprise" IT guys figure it out. Let them be the ones who cry out "This is enterprise ready", "This is approved for enterprise use", "This is useful and not a pain in the butt when it fails", "our employees should use this its a time saver", etc, etc, ad nausiam. And then when it falls short of "enterprise" expectations let them take the heat for making the decision. Unlike "Big Sales Enterprise Inc" they will not be able push, pry, and coerce on a scale that creates so much "brand name" pressure on the mentally retarted(i.e. the general public) to keep the very thing that caused `the problems` to stay alive in their own "enterprise". Currently it seems that the decision makers are way over pressured by marketing, eye litter is everywhere. The number of battles that should be fought with those who want to use product x JUST because it is marketed well is overwhelming. Seems clear to me. Lets call it democratic marketing and get Al Gore on the phone.

This may be being done, but its insurance for the store not a federal requirement for record keeping of customer transactions. Simply a choice.

The store can refuse to serve anyone for any reason however when the federal government says they can only serve certain customers under certain conditions there becomes burden to comply with someone else's(i.e. US society in theory) choice and not thier own.

I can refuse to show ID and the store can refuse the sale. But I could be under age and show a fake id and the store might be tricked into the transaction. Same applies to websites. T

Law enforcement agencys have long been operating undercover at catching stores who sell to minors what makes anyone think that they wouldn't do the same to websites once they have regulated who can use which services?
    So:

    1) I(an undercover agent) team up with a kid
    2) Have kid sign up at a website and lie about his age
    3) I fine the site for allowing it to happen(profit!!!)

I agree. And think that a large part of the problem is that the govenrment tends to think like an overbearing parent. Its a parents job to protect their children not the governments. The government should not legislate irresponsiblity or protect us from ourselves. If social networking sites attract preditors then GREAT! Now they have the fucking bait and the trap set, round up the sickos. As a parent I will decide if and where my child can get online and lie about their age. If they decide to do it without my authority then guess what, they made a bad choice which can lead to horrible concequences. I'm not saying that I would happily accept it, but thus is life. Raise you children properly and maybe the world will be a smarter place.

Imposing burdens on the owners of a social network website because their users might be predators, liers, or unmonitored children is as retarted as requireing the shop-rite to keep records of everyone who shows an ID to buy alcohol or tobacco. What about bar rooms? Should they keep records too? After all underage kids might lie and there could be an intoxicated rapist just waiting to spot a hawt teen slut exposing her self in "public".

I say go after parents and irresponsibility.

There's much more to life and human relationships than sexual expression. Don't get me wrong - I love that aspect of my life, and would not want to become celibate again - but are you really advocating that we provide kids with access to porn as a part of their developmental processes?

The appeal to the violence argument is ridiculous, too. Don't *add* porn, *remove* the violence!

I agree, they should locate it on their own. No help needed here.

If that means that your kids (and you) end up watching less (or no) TV, and skip almost every movie, can you argue that you have been harmed in some way?

Maybe with an arguement claiming that the governing of society theses days is managed by television. And without fully understanding any given situation you could fall victim to some social standard that you do not adhear to.

What about investing that time in relating to each other, playing board games, having conversations, investing in hobbies where you build or create things, or enjoy things created or performed by others?

    Don't you mean religion?

Porn is a trap - it feeds the pleasure centers of the brain, devalues the humanity of the person being used for that pleasure, and damages people's ability to relate to one another in a healthy way.

Rubbish. Porn is a stimulant that has replaced what would be otherwise natural if religion had not convinced the majority of societies that nudity is a bad thing. No wonder there are so many sexually frusterated people.

Real relationships are not self-focused, but must have a significant component of other-focus or they don't survive.

I agree. And alot of couples enjoy pornography together.

Are you really advocating that we train our kids that it's all about *them*!?!?

I think we should train our kids to know good from bad. Nudity, Sex, and self loving are not bad. All are normal healthy and without religion would not be taboos.
