Lucas To Redo Star Wars In 3-D

Warlock7 writes "You might have thought that it was going to all be over on May 19 with the release of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Well, not so fast. It seems that George Lucas is planning to re-re-release the Star Wars films in a new 3-D format. There are also several other directors that are interested in this new technology and they are trying to get theaters to install new technology to allow the showing of their films in the new 3-D format [req free reg]."

I mean, there was always a part of me that hoped it was true that when he originally made SW, GL really didn't have the technology to make the movie he really wanted. Of course, after hearing about how really awful the first cut was, a little doubt crept into my mind, but still, there was a sliver of hope that the re-releases wer born more out of a desire for change, than a desire for change.

But now, there's no doubt that GL is truly just a greedy bastard. I can see how discussions of how cool it would be to see the opening screen crawl in 3D, followed by the corvette being overtaken by the imperial ship, but beyond that, christ.

This is going to be as bad as Jaws3 (in 3D), and there's really just no excuse for it.

Is neverland ran...i mean skywalker ranch losing that much money? Did he heavily invest in pumpkin futures and then hold them for too long? What the hell is he thinking?

It can be. A lot depends on how loud the victim screams and how well the cameraman captures it.
