Its real purpose, however, is far sicker. "Finger" refers to the act of inserting a finger or two into an anus and fetching feces to ingest or smear all over your gay lover. I'm afraid I'm not a PHB, at least not in charge of IT. I'm in charge of another department in a large organization, but I think it still holds true. Generalization has its place, but in something like IT, specialization is the way to go. Not to the point of being tunnel-visioned, but definitely have a thorough understanding of your specific field.
