10.4 on Display at FOSE

CmdrStone writes "Just thought I'd post to let people know that while at FOSE today in the Washington, D.C. Convention center I lingered at the Apple pavilion / booth. To my surprise every machine had 10.4 running. The build number matches the build number found on the rumor sites; 8A428. Does this presage Tiger hitting the shelves soon? Personally, my main interest was how much iSync was expanded to support more devices, phones, etc. The Apple rep confirmed that the number of devices has expanded. He lamented that his Symbian phone, the Nokia 9500 Communicator, still was not included in the supported phones. He did tell me that he was able to tether his Powerbook and get online via his 9500's T-Mobile connection."

...And doesn't anybody see the fact that Apple is releasign new OS's every 6 months-year as a problem? Jesus, if MS did that, we'd have 1000+ posts about how MS is evil and just after money. I don't know of any other software company that releases full versions so often. Seems that Apple is gouging their customers pretty good, and their customers like it. Personally, I don't get it.

Oh, for Christ's sake, shut up. This is such a load of garbage, and I just can't watch YET ANOTHER one of these brutally misinformed posts exist without getting the slap that it deserves.

Have you used Windows in the last, what, six years? Of course you haven't. Tell you what, Scooter, go to Best Buy and play around for ten minutes before embarrassing yourself with idiotic statements like what you just made.

...that's all they need to do. Screw spotlight. What good is finding something fast if the damn thing won't even scroll right? Tiger is ok, nothing stellar. Spotlight will be cool, Dashboard is crap...who wants a bunch of shit all over the screen, new video codec is good, core image is good only if it speeds up the GUI. I've heard all kinds of crap about Quartz but GUI is slow as hell. Apple needs to fix the GUI performance, expand Cocoa APIs to cover things like Quicktime and Web Objects and then we'll talk. The bug in iTunes / iMix section is so slow the damn thing barely scrolls on a dual G5 2.5 ghz. -Nazz

It's good to know that with this latest version of OSX, I would be able to sync my contacts with my phone and even (gasp!) use my phone to connect to the internet. Wow!

Oh, hang on. On Monday I was able to connect to the internet using a clean build Dell Windows XP laptop and my SE Z600 phone over bluetooth with no third party software. This was done in a customer meeting, during a dull presentation without anyone else being aware that I was doing it... I had not done this before on this laptop so I had to setup the BT partnership, configure the connection setting and security. Even then it only took me a couple of mins to get an internet connection.

Anyway, as I said. Yey for Tiger! Macs rule!
