TiVo Buys Six New Patents From IBM

Thomas Hawk writes "TiVo reported in an 8-K filing today that on March 31, 2005 they purchased six new patents from IBM. The patents purchased reportedly have to do with audience research and measurement, integration of television signals with internet access, automatic rescheduling of recordings, content screening, enhanced program information search and electronic program guide interface enhancements. For those of you privacy advocates out there you will love Patent No. 5,872,588: Method and apparatus for monitoring audio-visual materials presented to a subscriber. " The link has very little additional information.

  2. Pope dies, Charles moves wedding, Fawsley eats hat by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Offtopic
    From this Monday's Sun:

PRINCE CHARLES' wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles would not be postponed if the Pope's funeral was also held on Friday, a constitutional expert claims.

The Vatican today revealed that Pope John Paul II's funeral was likely to take place between Wednesday and Friday.

But Lord Fawsley said of the Royal couple: "I think they are so anxious to get April 8 out of the way. "If there was an eclipse of the sun they would stick to that date.

"I know they are absolutely determined to get it out of the way as soon as they possibly can.

"It might turn people's attention away from them, but that would not be entirely unwelcome.

"My feeling is that nothing will make them move their wedding. They just want to get it out of the way.

Lord Fawsley, a committed Catholic, added: "I do not see anything inappropriate about it.

"It is a very unfortunate thing about the English - they can never resist an invitation to a party."

So not only was Fawsley rather ill informed about the pope's funeral arrangements, but also misjudged what the royals reaction to the news would be, but he was also completely unaware that April actually had a solar eclipse.

    Enjoy your hat, Lord Fawsley!

In internet, only old people frist post n00bs. Also, I saw yesterday that your buddy Matthew Hale got sentenced to 40 years. Awww, poor guy. Maybe he'll change his mind when Massive Muscles Mofo, who is a gay Jewish black man, is feeling a little lonely and unfulfilled. At least Matt will get fulfilled! I hope somebody's got a camera because they could make a mint on that one...

  6. Oh the irony: Anglicans bow to Catholics! by ArsenneLupin · · Score: 0, Offtopic
Let's not forget how the Anglican Church came to be: because the pope refused to annul one of his many marriages, King Henri VIII simply decided to found his own Church!

Now, fast-forward a couple of centuries...

Prince Charles (a divorcee...) and Camilla Parker Bowles (another divorcee...) plan their wedding ceremony on April 8th. Unfortunately, the pope dies, and the cardinal decide that, out of 3 possible dates, they absolutely have to bury him on April 8th!

What happens next? Charles and Camilla, not wanting to compete for the media's attention with the pope discretely move their ceremony to the next day... thus acknowledging that Catholic Church carries more weight than the Church of England!

thus acknowledging that Catholic Church carries more weight than the Church of England Of course it does. There are more Catholics in the world than there are Anglicans. And they both carry more weight than my religion. But I still think they're wrong. But that's neither here nor there. The decision was political, nothing more. Now, what was the topic again???
