First Week PSP Sales Results

Gamespot has results from the first week of PSP sales. Unit sales have already cracked 600,000, generating in the neighborhood of $US 150 million for Sony. From the article: "Sony would only say that the device sold 'over half a million units' during its first 48 hours on the market, meaning it sold only approximately 100,000 units continent-wide over the next five days--at best. Still, Sony said the tally was enough to 'further validate PSP as the most anticipated product of 2005 and an industry-altering force.'"

The DS sold 513,000 units in its first week. The GBA sold 530,000. 600,000 is the best launch numbers for a portable ever.

"I declare DS the victor, not out of fanboyism, but out of hard core numbers."

Wooooohahahahahaha. I'm having a great laugh now just knowing how much of a laugh I'll be having later on at this declaration. Yeah, people are gonna choose a portable with a gimmicky double-screen set-up over the portable that's so powerful it's hard to believe it's a portable, as well as having mod capability to surf the net, play movies, etc. Ahhh, I needed a good laugh.

Price will be $150 by X-mas, and we're going to see some sick games as well. This thing's gonna rock the portable world, finally breaking the monopoly Nintendo has had. And I don't even like Playstation.
