Actually, I've been playing this game for over a year and I've got a few points to make.

As far as this being an ad goes, I almost started a story about the game the last time something big happend in the game. This game has a very loyal fanbase, and anything you hear from any of us is likely to sound like an ad because.

We like the game. We want more people to play it!

About the game not being subscription worthy, two points.

    1. I didn't think so either until I played it for a little while. I'm a subscriber, and I've introduced the game to other people who became subscribers.

    2. They have two different types of oceans. Subscription and 'doubloon' oceans. Doubloon oceans can be genuinely free. They use doubloons as part of their currency. These only enter the game when people buy them with cash. However, there's a secondary market in the game. If you're skilled, you can earn enough in game money to buy doubloons off of other pirates and play for free.

Here's a couple things to keep in mind if you decide to try the game:

When you create a new account, they put your character in a random ocean. If it's in a subscription ocean, you have a trial period where you play for free before the account is disabled. For future logins, you get to choose the ocean you log into. Choose a doubloon ocean if you don't think you want a subscription yet. You have a much better chance to try out all the things Puzzle Pirates has to offer.

People often try the game and then leave thinking that puzzles are all the game has to offer. The puzzles can be likened to battle on Everquest. In Puzzle Pirates, the puzzles aren't the only games. They are also the mechanisms that the larger game is based on.

Try it... it's free to try on subscription oceans, and it's free to play on doubloon oceans.
