Small but Mighty:The Bricolage Story
SilentBob4 writes "Bricolage is an example of the power of an open source project to survive its proprietary origins. As you will read below, Bricolage was originally started in-house by Salon magazine, and then open sourced by About.com. I imagined how very frustrated David Wheeler, a Salon employee, would have been had he been forced to watch the code he helped develop just die on the shelf. Never underestimate the strength of the human passion to create, and to see one's creations bloom in the light of day." The full story is at Mad Penguin."
Another mighty FP?
I can picture it now...you coming up the stairs from the basement, shuffling into the TV room and standing sheepishly in front of your parents.
"Mom, dad...we need to talk."
"What is it son? Something bothering you?"
"I...I..." you stammer and gulp with a suddenly parched throat..."I FAIL IT!"
(cue dramatic music, close up of father looking shocked, mother bursts into tears)
"Son! After all we've done for you, how could you...FAIL IT?" begs your father, but you have no answers.
Your father stands up, slams a fist into his chest, and screams "I HAVE NO SON!"
Later, back in the basement, you taste cold steel and oil as you slowly slide your father's revolver into your mouth.
