Opens Source Nvidia TNT/GeForce Driver Effort

Bender writes "Rudolf Cornelissen is working on an Open Source Nvidia TNT/GeForce driver for BeOS. He has already made more progress than the original Utah-GLX driver. With some community support, perhaps we'll have an open source X.org driver soon!"

    Just what we need....

More NVIDIA drivers that actually WORK!

NVIDIA users live life too luxuriously. We ATI Linux users live life in its truest form: harsh, painful, and cruel. :(

Which is why you shouldn't buy ATI. They do have the best hardware [though "best" means +1 FPS at 1600x1200 or etc...] but their drivers suck.

So vote with your dollar, buy an equally capable but much more supported video card...

A 5200FX is around $100 [CAD] and quite capable of playing UT2K4, Doom3, etc...

Drivers have value only to the extent that having bad ones cripple hardware and (conveniently) shorten the lifespan of older cards, the latter of which is absolutely coincidental with the fact that the 3D drivers' source and documentation largely remain under wraps.

They do what? My GeForce 3 that I bought two years ago is still working just fine in another computer.

Maybe if you took care of your computer things wouldn't break?
