Google Upgrades AdSense
An anonymous reader writes "According to a story in the New York Times, Google will now "give advertisers more control over where their ads are shown, how they pay for them and what they look like." Author John Battelle claims "The core philosophy of Google's advertising business is that these ads are actually valuable and useful to users: look for Chevy trucks and get Chevy truck ads. Now we are in another place. It's more about branding and more about advertising other things than what you are looking for, and, cynically, it may be about being a public company that needs revenue growth."" The other thing that other submitters noted was that AdSense would also be accepting graphical advertising as well; but for display on partner sites.

I give you 3 out of 10 on the troll scale. Try to be less obvious in the future.
Right on.
To my many friends, both known and unknown, wherever you may be, I submit these thoughts for your consideration. And that's why I feel compelled to say something about hypersensitive, loathsome extremists. Mankind needs to do more to present a clear picture of what is happening, what has happened, and what is likely to happen in the future. Understand, I am not condemning mankind for not doing enough; I am merely stating that no matter what else we do, our first move must be to educate everyone about how this serves as a reminder that Apple has no right to be here. That's the first step: education. Education alone is not enough, of course. We must also work together towards a shared vision. I wish I could say this nicely, but I don't have much tolerance for unpleasant blockheads: Conversations with Apple are no more intellectual than a game of darts at the local pub. Now that that's cleared up, I'll continue with what I was saying before, that it says that the best way to make a point is with foaming-at-the-mouth rhetoric and letters filled primarily with exclamation points. This is at best wrong. At worst, it is a lie.
While this country still has far to go before people are truly judged on the content of their character, all Apple really wants is to hang onto the perks it's getting from the system. That's all it really cares about. What I want to document now is that Apple teaches workshops on antidisestablishmentarianism. Students who have been through the program compare it to a Communist re-education camp. An inner voice tells me that Apple says that everyone would be a lot safer if it were to monitor all of our personal communications and financial transactions -- even our library records. Why on Earth does Apple need to monitor our library records? The answer may surprise you, especially when you consider that in Apple's hijinks, onanism is witting and unremitting, complacent and wayward. It revels in it, rolls in it, and uses it to foment snotty forms of political tyranny.
I'm not writing this letter for your entertainment. I'm not even writing it for your education. I'm writing it for our very survival.
Oh, and one more thing. There is still hope for our society, real hope -- not the false sense of hope that comes from the mouths of moonstruck braggadocios, but the hope that makes you eager to expand people's understanding of its voluble philippics. A study of the most self-serving hatemongers you'll ever see indicates broad political and ideological agreement on the use of force combined with a set of simple tactics to achieve their immediate goal: to force some to live by restrictive standards not applicable to others. Let Apple's disgraceful, politically incorrect arguments stand as evidence that I've never bothered Apple. Yet Apple wants to promote headlong ideologies, such as obstructionism. Whatever happened to "live and let live"? Apple wants to kill the messenger and control the message. It gets better: It actually believes that it is a bearer and agent of the Creator's purpose. I guess no one's ever told it that it recently stated that children should get into cars with strangers who wave lots of yummy candy at them. It said that with a straight face, without even cracking a smile or suppressing a giggle. It said it as if it meant it. That's scary, because it has no discernible talents. The only things Apple has doubtlessly mastered are biological functions. Well, I suppose it's good at convincing people that it can change its brusque ways, but Apple wonders why everyone hates it. Apparently, it never stopped to think that maybe it's because it should not put political correctness ahead of scientific rigor. Not now, not ever.
Judging by the generally domineering nature of Apple's lackeys, I can see that given the public appetite for more accountability, it remains to be seen if Apple will make bribery legal and part of business as usual before long. Well, that's getting away from my main topic, which is that I don't care what others say about Apple. It's
Yeah the breast metaphor made it way too obvious. You don't bring in those non-subtle trolls in the first paragraph, rookie.
