Douglas Adams Remembered By Those Who Knew Him

John "Widgett" Robinson writes "IGN FilmForce tapped a bunch of folks who knew and worked with Douglas Adams, asking them to share some stories of their time with the man himself. They've posted the results as an article that includes responses from Pythoner Terry Jones, author Neil Gaiman, actor Stephen Fry, Rutle Neil Innes, zoologist Mark Carwardine, and Monkee Michael Nesmith. I've never heard any of these stories before, so the thing winds up being a unique tribute to a very cool frood."

(Mr. Chapman could not be reached in time for deadline)
Is this some sort of attempt at humour? Mr. Chapman has been ex-everything since 1989 (IMDb entry).

I remember being invited to attend the night of the AppleMasters at the Apple Developer conference. It must have been around 1998. Douglas Adams was an Apple Masters and great anticipation could be filled in the audience to get to see the famous writer. Well, he came on stage unprepared, cracked a couple of unfunny jokes and presented his new software (a lame adventure game) on Windows. People stared at him, the way they would in front of David Brent in the Office. Pathetic. A few years after, he goes to the gym in LA and tossed the barbell on his chest for some mid-life crisis reason, trying to look like Apollo and toasted his heart in the 4 rep. And now people are trying to make him a post-mortem hero? Why?

He is a hyper-cynical dead atheist. He essentially recycled the plot of his first book into several more. What's the point?
