Build Your Own DVR
prostoalex writes "If you have an old computer that had been laying around for a while and are ready to spend a bit on hardware to make into a Digital Video Recorder, this article from Make magazine contains a step-by-step guide on building one. The author spent $150 on TV card and $70 on BeyondTV PVR software." (And with a Linux-friendly capture card, MythTV would save the builder $70.)
I want to build my own motherboard!
And I want it to support one P4 Extreme edition, one Athlon 64, and one Ultrasparc. And I need to use all these 72 pin simms I have laying around.. So, I will need about 81 SIMM slots. Yes, 81. Oh, xga graphics, too.
A witty saying proves you are wittier than the next guy.
I like cooking and make up my own dishes. They are influenced culturally by past squeezes and present spouse so draw on pacific island, soul, south indian, north indian, italian, japanese, north chinese, korean, and cantonese influence.
Lately I've been entering a lot of recipe contests and learned quickly that winning recipes must address a wide audience while at the same time endorsing the sponsors products. Combining this with a tempered mix of influences makes for winning recipes.
When listing ingredients the sponsor must be mentioned.
2 lb Goldkist boneless skinless chicken thighs
1/3 cup Lindsay anchovy stuffed olives
3 TBS Punja's meat masala
1 TBS Lee Kum Kee black bean with garlic paste
Also, the recipe must use ingredients that are widely available and not be too far removed from something familiar, in so far as the sponsors ingredients can still be included.
The referenced magazine is merely tailoring it's articles to suit a wide audience and foster sponsor interest. More readers will see the P&P nature of the project and buy the rag. Advertisers will see a sensitivity to their needs.
I also do drink recipes...
Sailor's martini
4 oz chilled vodka
6 anchovy stuffed olives
1/2 lemon or lime
2 toothpicks
2 martini glasses
Put 2 oz chilled vodka in each glass
Place three anchovy stuffed olives on the lower half of each toothpick.
Rinse with juice from lemon or lime.
Place olive end of toothpick in each glas and swirl once gently.
Enjoy
