The Revolution is Coming Mid-2006?

GameIndustry.biz is reporting that the Nintendo Revolution is slated to arrive in Mid-2006. The information comes from a key supplier. From the article: "This is the first solid evidence that the Revolution platform is still on track for a mid-2006 launch. The console is expected to debut at a pre-E3 conference next Tuesday, but it's still not known just how much will be on display - with sources close to Nintendo suggesting that only a pre-recorded video of "next-gen footage" may be shown."

...we're using a quote from PS2's GTA: San Andreas' Ammu-Nation guy* to announce this. (Minus the Mid-2006 part of course.)

*yes I know they most likely got it from someone else, sue/blow me.

" Also remember that when a multiplatform game is developed it is designed around the specifications of the weakest of the systems that is popular enough."

Having worked on multiple mulit-platform console titles myself I can confidently say: Nope.

I would guess you are getting that from xbox fanboy sites rationalizing the poor performance of xbox ports of PS2 games. Guess what fanboy, the PS2 is significantly more powerful than the xbox in many ways. Just like the Dolphin is.

"To a certain extent your argument sounds like the idiots who claimed that the "PS2 would provide graphics at a level far above the Dreamcast"; the truth is that, although the PS2 was more powerful, there wasn't a game produced for the PS2 that couldn't be ported successfully to the dreamcast."

Dreamcast fanboy. Shouldn't you be hanging out with the Amiga clowns crying over your failed systems?

Sorry clown, the difference between the PS3 and Revolution will be in the same ballpark - there is still some important details that haven't been released to developers yet. But the xbox isn't going to be in the same league. It is better to think of it as the xbox 1.5.
