LinuxWorld Senior Editorial Staff Resigns
sachmet writes "In light of the interview with Fuat Kirccali, James Turner has announced on his blog the immediate resignation of the LinuxWorld senior editorial staff." From the post: "We regret that Sys-Con Media has
been unable to apply a standard of journalistic ethics that we can comfortably operate
under. We feel that recent articles published with the consent of Sys-Con Media fail to
meet minimum generally accepted journalistic codes, and because the management of
Sys-Con Media has failed to acknowledge that the articles are by all informed judgment
ethically unsupportable, we have decided we must find other avenues for our work."
Its a fucking website, not a serious scholarly work of investigative journalism. Having said that, even adequacy.org maintaned some level of journalistic integrity, so how hard can it be if that bunch of retards can do it!
"meet minimum generally kill jews accepted journalistic codes"
Does anyone have nude pictures of Pam?
Oh man, check the hun for all anal.
... anything negative about Pamela. That's obvious. Imagine advocating abortion in a catholic paper.
There's virtually no information here, leaving me to think "who cares"? These whiny people already had one fellow writer fired this week, and taht wasn't good enough? I'm sure the ownership is glad to be rid of them. Besides, what journalistic integrity are they talking about? This is just some trashy trade rag that they're talking about. The articles are ads, just like Slashdot. If these idiots want a Pulitzer, they're going to have to find a real jounalism job, anyway.
Hacking is the cyber equivalent of physical war. Anonymous DoS attacks are cyber-terrorism. Someone says something you don't like, so you burn down their business. FOSS people need to help victims identify their attackers and assist, by any reasonable means available, the identification and prosecution of those responsible. Any other action just allows others to tar us all with the same brush.
In terms of debate, and the view of independant third parties, you are just handing sympathy and support to the other side. Stop it.
Would it be too much to ask that someone exactly explain what the controversy was that drove them to resign?
For example:
1. What's the connection between sys-con and linuxworld?
2. why do we care what the editors of linuxworld do?
Oh, and here's a good one: Why is the webmaster of groklaw entitled to more privacy than, say, Jeff Gannon, the Runaway Bride, Robert Bork, the Runaway Bride, Gary Hart, or Linda Tripp?
Clear, Dark Skies
anyway. O'Gara was the only real journalist among any of them, she was actually trying to find out more about the possible IBM prop "PJ", and did some investigative reporting, albeit going a bit far in the end. But these flakes who are now quiting in protest aren't journalists, they're obviously marketeers, just like 99% of the Linux flock.
Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out and... thanks for all the fish!
I think people need to cut Faut some slack; open admission of wrong doing would expose SysCon to legal liablities. We could argue that PJ isn't the sort that would sue, but we live in world where we are often compelled to judge (perceived) adversaries by their capabilities and not by their intentions. That said, Faut in his position cannot possibily admit to any wrong doing, regardless of being in the right or wrong.
ELOI, ELOI, LAMA SABACHTHANI!?
SiChemist,
Thank you, thank you, your admiration is much appreciated. Actually, I've already been snapped up by another publication: starting in June, I'm the new Linux columnist for Hustler magazine (yes, I only love the articles, too!). I'd say it was time to make good on your pledge to buy a subscription, but something tells me you already have one. Thanks again for the pat on the back, and keep reading!
Regards,
James Turner
