Linux HW and SW RAID Benchmarked

An anonymous reader writes "A Norwegian site has written up an article with various RAID solutions benchmarked using both bonnie++ and dbench. The result shows a lot of surprises, especially when comparing low end sw RAID with high end hw RAID. The text is in Norwegian but the numerous graphs are self explanatory. It does look like a few kernel drivers need a little tweaking."

For awhile (as legend has it, while Slashdot servers are mid-sync), I got an otherwise blank page saying "Nothing for you to see here. Please move along." at the top, and "Out of sight is out of mind. -- Arthur Clough" at the bottom. That's crazy.

I just tried to "Read more" of a story just posted. What are the odds that I'd get someone flaming me, on a Spring Sunday when they could be enjoying the day, if only by reading more of the story? You flame too much, dude.

What is SlashDot doing and why? Why are particular ports scanned from SlashDot? Is SlashDot developing signatures from IP packet structure? To what end?
