Scientific Research That Could Have Been Avoided
indian_rediff writes "An article from Friday's Wall Street Journal (reprinted in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) details how some of the research being done by scientists ends up simply stating the obvious. Their observations make for some interesting and hilarious reading." From the article: "Want job satisfaction? A 'careful choice of career is the key,' researchers concluded in a paper this spring in the Journal of Economic Psychology. Choosing a career based on a well-lubricated encounter at a bar, it turns out, may not be the most promising route to career satisfaction. People who choose their jobs carefully are more likely to be satisfied with them than those who take a flying leap into the great unknown."
oops, this isn't AICN.
On a sidenote, there was also a recent study which concluded that those who have very little sex are less happy than those who have a whole lot of sex.
File that under shit I already know.
this is my sig, there are many like it, but this one is mine.
The title of this article almost sounds like a Photoshop Phriday over on SA.

Show me, instead, where the Bible implies that the earth is flat.
In between the covers.
Now, you see that orange dot? It means I won't be replying to your trolls anymore, so you can STFU and go annoy someone else.
You can't take the sky from me...
do people discover such wonderful things as the Bistromathic Drive?
This article is clearly a part of neo-con agenda. Bush in the last week says he'll veto stem-cell research and now an article on science, which see's science as almost futile, is written by the same right-wing attack dogs who bring us 'good news from Iraq' every week.
I would like to see a site that documents this administrations use of soft-power information attacks being used against ideas that doesn't fit the neo-con movement. It seems anyone who goes against the current regimes thinking is instantly filed away in a Machiavellian (or probably rovian) attack dossier.
Oppose the ideas of WMD's in Iraq? Don't worry we'll have your CIA case officer wife 'outed'. That's treason. Of course we've got more important things to worry about like downloading songs of pop-stars.
Hate science because you are either deluded or want the religious votes? Don't worry we'll discredit it through media manipulaton.
You know I'm all for getting rid of the worlds bad guys and spreading democracy, science, freedom and all the other great ideas we have but for fucks sake we have to walk our talk. Integrity is matching up our words with our actions and that is NOT happening with this current administration.
