60% Of U.S. Believe Life Exists On Other Planets

jangobongo writes "Does intelligent life exist anywhere besides Earth? Are regular churchgoers less likely to believe life has evolved on other planets? Do more Democrats or Republicans believe in extraterrestrials? And if alien life makes contact, what should we do? These questions were asked on a poll released last week that shows that two-thirds of Americans do believe that life exists on other planets, and of that group, 90% say if we receive a message from another planet we should reply. The poll was commissioned by the SETI Institute and the National Geographic Channel."

I wonder how many people believe in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus or Al Gore making another presidential run in 2008? I bet the numbers will be high (except maybe the last one).

One form of Hollywood encouraged magical thinking = acceptance of all things irrational.

I am thinking of beginning an effort to live outside the USA. It is too much - the corporations, the lieing, the governmental stealing via the defense industries and the unaccountable no-visible-budget CIA, the lack of health care, and then the irrational populace who is supposed to fix the system via "democracy."

And do not ever never forget - Hollywood, NY and LA brainwash the populace. BONG! Bing Bong Boom! Lookie at the cute ALIEN in the Winnie the Pooh suit! Lookit the cute overgrown keyboard for playing the "call" notes. Quite hypnotic, oh yes, just like. sex, lies, and video.

You realise in twenty years there will be no doctors in the USA?
