Microsoft Censoring Blogs on MSN China
jdfox writes "The BBC is reporting that Microsoft is censoring blogs on MSN China. The words 'freedom', 'democracy' and 'demonstration' are reportedly among the words being blocked.
But the article also points out that Microsoft is not the first corporation to censor content when the Chinese government requests it." Slashdot covered this story a few days ago too.
So... tell me.... why are they doing this?
Why do they censor these words? Why the governement does that?
Is there some people from china who can tell us the situation there?
No sig for now.
...it's gone.
Even with tens of billions in the bank, Microsoft is unwilling to do the right thing and say FU to China.
I actually find this more distasteful than Microsoft being a monopolist.
Next up, US government asks slashdot to censor the words "patriot act", "national ID", and "revolution". Please understand this is for your own protection, as our government has strictly the people's interersts in mind.

. . . to The Hague in chains. Try him for crimes against humanity, convict him, and hang him high as a deterrent for other corporate officers responsibile for aiding and abetting oppression in China. While they're at it, there should be gallows for the executives at Cisco who authorized the Great Firewall work.

That would be because most of the SlashDot administrators will post anything slandering or libelling Microsoft, without fact-checking it! I mean, hey, who needs journalistic integrity when your trying to give reasons to dislike microsoft?
I'm doing this anonymous because I don't want credit/flak for it
Note, too, that in March and April of this year, hordes of Chinese animals rampaged throughout China and demanded that Tokyo apologize for the "complicity" of today's Japanese in 60-year-old atrocities.
Now, the Chinese animals are totally silent when Microsoft complies with Beijing's laws by removing the word "democracy". Where are the Chinese animals? Why are they silent?
Why are the animals silent when Beijing refuses to apologize even once to Rebiya Kadeer for imprisoning her (a 60-year-old grandmother) for the "crime" of giving publicly available newspapers to some American friends?
Why are the animals silent when Beijing suppresses democracy?
Why are the animals silent? Such is the nature of Chinese people. The problem is not merely Beijing. The problem is Chinese society.
