MIT Physicists Create New Form of Matter

Ninwa writes "According to the MIT news office the folks in their labs have really outdone themselves this time, they've created a new form of matter. The post states, 'They have become the first to create a new type of matter, a gas of atoms that shows high-temperature superfluidity.' It has been said that this could solve the mysteries in superconductivity."

Well isn't that a "glass empty" view on life.

Your view is taking all the amazing things physics *does* allow us to do now, without having to enter 3 sigma conditions of temperature, for granted.

Yes sir. Why do we even bother trying to invent anything else when we have so much. Maybe the good Lord intended such things to be so hard to achieve because he wants us to simply be thankful for what we have?

The universe has existed for more than 6,000 years. So, What make you think we'll ever find the answer to these questions so quickly?

I can think of dozens more offhand. Science likes to tantalize you with incredible possibilities that float just outside your reach ;)

The reason these things are outside our reach and so tantalizing is because we're not a scientific society. We're a religious society. Our religion is mostly made up of capitalism, Republican, Democrat and christian "values". What these groups value is just about anything BUT science.

So we get propoganda, dumbed down to their level, that presumes how this technology might be used to improve the average religious person's life.

Its mostly nonsense and I always feel less intelligent for reading it. Every article, every single article about technology, even those that are posted on Slashdot, are like that. They mention nanotechnology and have to explain they are talking about really small things, for example. Its just crazy.

Hasn't anyone picked up a science book in their lifetime? If they forgot EVERYTHING in it maybe they should stop smoking so much weed or for christ's sake legalize it so I can function at their pathetically uneducated level.

Nearly every Western scientific advancement made before 1950, which have lead to the discovery cited in this article, was created in a Euro-Christian society.

Blow your reactionary anti-Christian worldview out your fetus-hating ass.
