WalterCon 2005
Masq666 writes "It's time for another WalterCon (Haiku developer conference), just as the last time it will be held in Las Vegas. For those of you not familiar with the Haiku project, Haiku is a Open Source derivate of BeOS. bug-nordic.org has a good collection of Haiku Screenshots for your viewing pleasure." From Michael Phipps's announcement of the gathering: "Like last year, the conference will be held over the weekend. This year, it will be held over the weekend of the fourth anniversary of OBOS/Haiku - August 6th and 7th. The cost is $110 for a double occupancy room on the night of the 6th along with conference registration."
From the submission...
The cost is $110 for a double occupancy room on the night of the 6th along with conference registration."
Double occupancy, are they implying that a programmer might actually have a girlfriend? Why, this is news!!!
.. its why there aren't that many good Scandinavian programmers. :)

I wonder how many geeks will try and book room 575?
If brevity is the soul of wit, then how does one explain Twitter?
Why are there so few comments here? Has everybody on /. suddenly lost interest in alternative OSes? Why, the apocalypse must be near, indeed!
Please correct me if I got my facts wrong.
I would love to try out haiku, but it looks like there isn't an easy way to set up a test install (functional or not?) - is it because it's pretty far away from "something an end-user could use", or is it not a priority?
You're out of your element.
(Oh, sorry, different Walter.)
