Gates On Future of CS Education
lilrowdy18 writes "In an interesting article from Eweek, Microsoft chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates talks about how the lack of spending in research and development is 'kind of a crime'. He also talks about future problems that are facing the computer industry including outsourcing and the speed of upcoming processors." From the article: "Microsoft taps both native-born talent and foreign talent, but Gates said he is frustrated that more U.S. students are not going into computer science. 'The fastest growing major is physical education,' he said. 'The Chinese are going to wake up and say we missed this opportunity,' he joked."
fp, dude?
Swastika - from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
For the town in Ontario, see Swastika, Ontario.
The swastika is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles either clockwise or anticlockwise. It is traditionally oriented so that a main line is horizontal, though it is occasionally rotated at forty-five degrees, and the Hindu version is often decorated with a dot in each quadrant; the un-dotted version is considered more formal in Hinduism.
Taboo in Western countries
Because of its use by Hitler and the Nazis and, in modern times, by neo-Nazis and other hate groups, for many people in the West, the swastika is associated primarily with Nazism, fascism, and white supremacy in general. Hence, outside historical contexts, it has become taboo in Western countries. For example, the German postwar criminal code makes the public showing of the Hakenkreuz (the swastika) and other Nazi symbols illegal and punishable, except for scholarly reasons.
More like getting fired for not living in Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore or Hyderabad.
Just because it CAN be done, doesn't mean it should!
I only put in 5 hours of overtime a week to run nightly processes.
Ever hear of the "at" command? It is cross platform and will let you spend those late nights at home with the wife (scratch that - this is Slashdot) home Linux server.

When even a modest house costs over a million dollars, $160K/yr is a lot less than it looks people.
Back in October 2001 I saw houses in a normal seeming neighborhood in San Carlos (a nice train ride from San Jose) and they were $800K then.
Don't forget the very high state and local income taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, and fuel taxes either! That's the People's Republic of California.
Even if you got the time and money to kick back and have a beer on your front porch, don't. That's illegal.
After the 2 hr commutes (each way) you'll probably want something stronger than a beer. (note to people wanting to accuse me of supporting DUI - I said AFTER the commutes, not BEFORE)
As for being replaced with someone younger, what about when you can no longer deal with 100 hr weeks when needed? Either due to physical limitations or due to a wife who'll divorce you for not spending time/thinking you are cheating.
