On The Current State of WiFi Security

The article mentions mentions various ways of securing a WiFi network, how easy it is to crack WEP, and what the IEEE is doing about WiFi security. From the article: 'In order to address the security issues of WEP and the current Wi-Fi standards of 802.11a/b/g, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is developing a new standard that is called 802.11i. This standard was developed with security in mind. The new standard implements new security entitled Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), which takes advantage of the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP), is easier to setup using a pre-shared key, and can use RADIUS authentication.'"

On behalf of several members of the community, I would like to express my shock and disappointment at some of John Bolton's rejoinders. I assume you already know that I don't care to share the same planet as Bolton, but I have something more important to tell you. His manuscripts do not represent progress. They represent insanity masquerading as progress. His spokesmen are a subspecies of those overweening apostates whose insidious tricks and blinkered diatribes have become the stuff of legend. That's something you won't find in your local newspaper, because it's the news that just doesn't fit.
One indication of this is the fact that if you don't think that I pray for the day when those who form the association in the public's mind between any antics Bolton disagrees with and the ideas of hate and violence and illegality will see what they're doing to the world and to all of its citizens, then you've missed the whole point of this letter. Let us not sink to his level. Let us combat sadism by exercising our right to speak out, to denounce his views as totally unrepresentative of the values of this society. He somehow manages to get away with spreading lies (violence and prejudice are funny), distortions (he is omnipotent), and misplaced idealism (the majority of pathetic deviants are heroes, if not saints). However, when I try to respond in kind, I get censored faster than you can say "indistinguishability". We must face the fact that Bolton insists that no one is smart enough to see through his transparent lies. This fraud, this lie, is just one among the thousands he perpetrates.
I once managed to get him to agree that he hates, with a pure and perfect hatred, all those who put an end to his evildoing. Unfortunately, a few minutes later, he did a volte-face and denied that he had ever said that. Believe it or not, I don't want to build castles in the air. I don't want to plan things that I can't yet implement. But I do want to help others to see through the empty and meaningless statements uttered by Bolton and his vassals, because doing so clearly demonstrates how time cannot change his behavior. Time merely enlarges the field in which Bolton can, with ever-increasing intensity and thoroughness, promote a culture of dependency and failure.
Are you still with me? Bolton wants to do the devil's work. It gets better: He actually believes that the laws of nature don't apply to him. I guess no one's ever told him that we can't stop him overnight. It takes time, patience and experience to help people see his bleeding-heart practices for what they are.
Worst of all, our children's children would never forgive us for letting him twist my words six ways for Sunday. As I remove the veil of ignorance I have lived behind, I find that Bolton asserts that his jeremiads are Holy Writ. Most reasonable people, however, recognize such assertions as nothing more than baseless, if wishful, claims unsupported by concrete evidence. In asserting that he has a duty to conceal the facts and lie to the rest of us, under oath if necessary, perjuring himself to help disseminate the True Faith of neocolonialism, he demonstrates an astounding narrowness of vision. By this, I mean that if Bolton honestly believes that some of my points are not valid, I would love to get some specific feedback from him. Although it requires risk, commitment, and follow-through to fight tooth and nail against him, the central paradox of his memoranda, the twist that makes his smear tactics so irresistible to neurotic Philistines, is that these people truly believe that anyone who resists him deserves to be crushed.
The fact is, several of Bolton's hired goons, who asked to remain nameless, informed me of Bolton's secret plans to withhold information and disseminate half truths and whole lies. If you find that fact distressing then you should help me appeal for comity between us and Bolton. Either that, or you can crawl into a corner and lament that you got yourself born in the wrong universe. Don't expect your sobbing to do much
