Congress to Overhaul Patent Law

karvind writes "According to story at law.com, 'lawmakers in Washington are considering changes to the patent code that would bring U.S. law closer to intellectual property standards in the rest of the industrialized world.' The stated result of Patent Reform Act of 2005, HR 2795 is supposed to make the system work 'more efficiently' and be 'less prone to litigation.'"

  4. Ironic, since the last patent rewrite was in 1952 by Anonymous Coward · · Score: -1, Offtopic

    So it is acceptable to rewrite a 53 year old law because it is outdated, but it is not OK to rewrite the 70 year old Social Security law because it is perfect.

    I guess if your party agrees with the law (e.g., democrats and Social Security) it can never ever be changed.
