GMail Sign-Ups Via Mobile

i call bullshit. there are several other ways they could have used to make sure spammers weren't signing up. google just wants people's cellphone numbers. i don't know why, but there is some other nefarious reason they want people to register via mobile cell.

The screen would get covered with pop-up windows, without close buttons, for 'embarassing' products to treat mortifying conditions that don't get discussed in mixed company.
And then my computer would wipe the hard drive, with Clippy animatedly saying 'You wanted to wipe that hard drive and all your work? Well here we go. Digital 'sepuku!'", and then, after shredding all my files and pounding my data into the floor, reboot into a RSOD or BSOD.
That why I use slackware and OS X.

Does Google call everything "beta" so they have a crutch to deflect criticism?
I should have known that posting against Google would get me modded down on this site, even when I'm posting facts, whilst the posts disagreeing with me are modded up to +4/5, even when they're wrong. I don't want to get banned from posting again for going against the hivemind, perhaps Slashdot should set up a Room 101 for reducation? Then you wouldn't even need a moderation system as everyone would be following the party line.
I need some more karma so I'll post this:
Google is great! Forget everything I said! Making you beg for invites or give away your phone number is much better than just signing up normally! Google is great! They invented webmail and search engines! All hail Google! I love Google! I hate Microsoft and Yahoo because they compete with Google! Google is not evil, everyone else is evil!
